A Tradition of Trust Since 1946

Our Company History

The company was founded as Frank’s Roofing and Siding in 1946 by Frank Savageau (husband to Mona Holland). In 1966, Paul G. Holland joined his uncle’s company. Paul learned the trade from the ground up from Frank, “a tough old union roofer.” When Savageau retired in 1972, Paul purchased the business and changed its name to Pawcatuck Roofing Company

Paul Holland quickly expanded the business throughout the 1970s and 1980s, while strictly adhering to the family’s traditional methods and materials for installing quality roofs. In his 26 years as president,

Paul is credited with establishing the company’s current corporate image and a distinctive fleet of green trucks with a yellow diamond logo. He also developed and built the company’s current office building, and adjacent shop and warehouse facility.

In 1998, Paul sold the business to two of his sons, Robert and Brent Holland. The Holland brothers have further expanded upon their father’s efforts to grow the company into a major competitor in all of Rhode Island and Connecticut markets. By dividing the company into three divisions, Residential, Commercial and Service & Maintenance, the Pawcatuck Roofing Company has the “logistics” to handle any size roofing project.

Jared Whewell has been working with the Hollands since he was 19 years old and moved his way up through the company from laborer to Chief Operating Officer to eventually one of the owners at the company. He has a strong background on the operations and commercial side of the business as well as a strong knowledge of the residential side.

Pawcatuck Roofing Company did a great job for us. They did our roof replacement this year (2025) and came out for 2 smaller jobs in past years. Before deciding to redo our roof we had called them out for some tiny leaks after heavy rains 2 years in a row. These turned out to be easy fixes for them having to do with loose flashing in separate locations on our roof. For both smaller jobs they got back to us in a timely manner and came out to do the fixes quickly which was really appreciated. Our old roof was from 1999 and so we were not surprised when they advised us to replace it based on the condition of our shingles. Since it felt like a big job we got quotes from 3 companies. Pawcatuck Roofing Company gave us the best quote and we already knew their work, so we ended up going with them. We were not disappointed. They showed up as scheduled at 8:30 am with an awesome, considerate team and finished by 5:30 pm. Everything was protected with tarps and broom swept afterwards. We have had plenty of rain since and haven't had any problems. The roof also looks great. We were really happy and would certainly recommend them.

The roofing team was efficient, careful and clean. None of the plantings around the house got damaged, which was the thing we had been worried about most. Fine-meshed netting was extended down from the edge of the roof and pulled taut, like a half-tent protecting the flower beds that doubled up as a slide for the debris. Todd R. oversaw the project, clearly explained everything and was really responsive and easy to talk to throughout the day. By 3 p.m. we had a new roof and it looked great.

A month ago, I had Pawcatuck Roofing shingle the roof on my mother's garage in Westerly. The price was more than fair, and the job looked great. They've always had a reputation for doing quality work, and when the job was done, you couldn't find a nail on the ground. They left the job cleaner than a hound's tooth. I was very happy with the job, and would highly recommend them for any job.

Brent and his crew showed up right on time and ready to work. They did an excellent job tackling our complicated rooflines. We had them move two skylights which necessitated them working inside too but the cleanup was so meticulous that you’d never know anyone was there. The cleanup outside (after the roof was done) was just as thorough. The price was good, the customer service was excellent and the job was done to our complete satisfaction.

We had a large roof replacement project completed this week. They had a well organized staging of material and equipment ahead of our start date. The project manager (Todd) and his crew showed up on time on the scheduled date. We had documented our requirements in the bid (important step), reviewed them with the project manager (another important step), who then assured that all the details in the bid were completed. The project was a large complex roof replacement, the crew worked through a bit of rain but finished in 2 days. The clean up was complete. We are very happy with the job they did for us.

My roof was at least 25 yrs old. I freaked out a bit at the prospect of a more active hurricane season predicted for 2024. Pawcatuck Roof gave me a fast and cost efficient estimate to replace it. The workers arrived as promised finished the whole job in only one day. The site was thoroughly cleared and it was like they were never there. GREAT work and service!

Pawcatuck roofing replaced my roof in spring 2024. Our old roof was about 25 years old and beginning to let moisture in. I had received multiple quotes on the project, and they can in at a competitive price. Unlike the other companies, there was no pressure to upsell. The work was completed quickly and professionally. Best of all, other than a great new roof, they left no sign that they had been there. The team even used magnets to ensure no stray nails were left in the yard where our children play. We had a very rainy month after the install, and our roof is keeping us nice a dry. Good price, easy to work with, and a quality roof. I highly recommend Pawcatuck Roofing.
